Gradated Field

MIT Festival of Art Science and Technology, 2011

Project by Yihyun Lim, Karina Silvester, Kyle Coburn

Recipient of MIT Arts Grant, this team installation project selected for MIT’s 150th anniversary celebration of Festival of Arts Science and Technology. Gradated Field is an investigation of casting plaster into thin sheet latex to produce a variety of catenary curvature. The installation created an inhabitable landscape that encourages a variety of interactions ranging from meandering by, to sitting, relaxing and lounging against the smooth plaster shapes.
